Course Description

machinery and machine safeguardingThis course covers the process of identifying, selecting and safeguarding machinery to protect employees and others. This course will emphasize the correction and prevention of safeguarding hazards as they relate to OSHA Machinery and Machine Guarding Standards.

Upon course completion students will have the ability to explain hazardous actions and motions of various types of machinery, identify methods of safeguarding, and match identified safeguards with the applicable OSHA Machinery and Machine Guarding Standards to reduce and eliminate the potential for accidents and injuries.

Who Should Attend

Individuals responsible for overseeing safety in industries such as: Construction, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Maritime and General Industry.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Describe employer responsibility with regards to workplace safety
  2. Identify common hazards associated with machinery and moving parts
  3. Describe common methods of assessing exposure to machinery and moving parts
  4. Describe process and equipment commonly used to provide machine guarding
  5. Recognize other consensus standards applicable to machinery and machine safeguarding
